The organisers of Face of Idoma beauty pageant, Agila Carnival have said this year’s edition of the event is open to both Idoma and non-idoma girls from across the nation.
This was disclosed by the president of the carnival, Prince Edwin Ochai while addressing newsmen yesterday concerning preparations for the prestigious Idoma national festival.
According to him, preparations for staging the cultural and economic festival which will be held between 22nd – 25th December 2016 has begun in earnest with all the structures across the regions of the country fully set to kick-off the zonal levels of the world class show.
“The theme of the 2016 edition of the Idoma National Carnival- Consolidating The Asset and Cultural Values of Idoma Land, while the charity work centers on promoting the rights of the Nigerian Girl-Child to education.
“Consistent with our mission of celebrating one facet of our culture per edition of The Agila Carnival, Otukpo in Benue State has been chosen by the Management of the carnival, for promotion and celebration.
“Accordingly, Benue State would have a special status and enjoy massive attention in our communication coverage. This involves celebrating the beauties of the State as the fastest growing destination, North Central Nigeria.” The statement read.
The management also reeled out events that will take place during the four days of the carnival some of which will include a football tournament from the 17th to 22nd December 2016, carnival procession across the great city of Otukpo, Ogbureke Traditional Wrestling and Novelty football match, Raffle draw for Okada Men and Market Women, Live concert and comedy show featuring the finest of Nigerian musicians and comedians.
Others include Benue’s Got Talent (BGT) show in which a winner goes home with N500,000 cash, Benue Fashion Night and the grand finale, which will feature the prestigious Face of Idoma beauty pageant.
