The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC in Okpokwu local government of Benue State, Hon. Patrick Ukwenya has said there was no primaries conducted in his local government.
He disclosed this while dismissing reports of the emergence of one Hon. Francis Olofu as the flag bearer of the APC in the forthcoming local government polls.
The Chairman said the exercise was marred by violence after party officials were prevented from getting into the venue of the event by thugs purportedly under the instruction of the Deputy Speaker, Hon. James Okefe.
He said: “Violence marred the event and we requested police protection. It was cancelled but Okefe decided to organise the event alone. Okefe was the organiser and chief returning officer which is not according to the stipulations of the APC constitution.”
Meanwhile, Governor Samuel Ortom has constituted a Complaint Committee headed by the Deputy Governor, Engr. Benson Abounu, to handle all grievances arising from the exercise across the state.
Ortom who just returned from a business visit to China spoke through his adviser on Politics and Inter-Party Affairs, Hon. Saawuan Tarnongu requesting all aggrieved aspirants to forward their written complaints to the Committee for immediate consideration.
